Your finished painting of an antique travel poster is due for full credit on November 4, 2011. Be prepared to show thumbnails, a comprehensive sketch and your final art in mixed media on white cold press Crescent board.

Along with the intro and intermediate students, you will have notes on the Design Process and Art Criticism this Thursday. These will be the subject of your next quiz, held the following week.

Your Personal Logo project should now be completed with the exception of carving your stamp. The tools necessaryfor this are on order but have not been received.

Be sure to turn in a typed personal statement about how your logo reflects you or your art. It needs to be between 1/2 page and a full page. Spelling and punctuation matter.

You have all received a packet of instructions for your next assignment: 1) Create a vintage or antique looking travel or surf poster in mixed media. You will create this artwork on Crescent board. It can be acrylic, watercolor, or colored pencil or a mix. You should begin this assignment by researching the links and google searches included in the packet.

 Under "Class Files" there is a document called "The Creative Process".  Read and know this information for the first quiz next week. This quiz will be either Wednesday or Thursday (block days).

It is important that you be prepared to take notes on vocabulary and general concepts in class. The material that is given in lecture will be used in quizzes, discussions and the written final semester given in December.

 Today we will begin a review of artistic perception.  We will use a loose style of drawing called "contour drawing" to create several drawings of your hand and one of your table partners' faces in short periods of time. These will be turned in for credit at the end of today (Friday's class). Be sure your name, class name , and period are on the top right of all papers.

 The class syllabus is available under Class Files for downloading.  Once you print it, read it, sign it (make sure your parent or legal guardian signs it, too), and return it to McMurdo by August 31 for 25 points of class credit.
